The short version: Your files never leave your device. PDF Chop Shop processes everything inside your browser. We have zero access to your documents — we never see them, store them, or transmit them. No ads, no analytics, no accounts, no tracking.
No File Uploads Zero Uploads
All PDF processing in PDF Chop Shop happens entirely within your web browser using JavaScript. When you open a file, it is loaded into your browser's memory only — it is never sent to any server.
- Your files are never uploaded to our servers.
- We have zero access to your documents.
- No copy of your file is retained anywhere after you close the browser tab.
- Processing happens on your own device using your own CPU and memory.
This is not a policy promise that could be broken — it is how the application is technically built. There is no server-side file handling code.
Google Drive Integration (Optional)
If you choose to import a file from Google Drive, the following applies:
- We use Google's Drive Picker API to let you browse and select a file.
- We request the
drive.filescope only — this grants access solely to the specific file(s) you select through the Picker. We cannot see or access any other files in your Drive. - The selected file is downloaded directly from Google's servers to your browser. It is not routed through our servers.
- We do not store, copy, index, or retain any Google Drive file data.
- Your Google account credentials are never stored by PDF Chop Shop.
- You can revoke PDF Chop Shop's access at any time via your Google Account permissions page.
Data We Collect
Effectively none. To be specific:
- No advertising: PDF Chop Shop does not display any ads. No ad networks, no tracking pixels, no analytics scripts.
- No analytics: We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics platform. We do not know how many people visit, what tools they use, or what they do here.
- No personal information: We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information. There is no registration, no sign-up, and no login.
- No file metadata: We do not log filenames, file sizes, page counts, or any information about the documents you process — because the documents are never sent to us in the first place.
Cookies
- Essential cookies: None. The core application requires no cookies to function.
- Third-party cookies: None. PDF Chop Shop does not embed any third-party scripts that set cookies.
- Local storage: We use your browser's
localStorageto save your working session (section groupings, tool settings) between visits. This data stays in your browser, never leaves your device, and contains no file content — only metadata like section titles and page numbers you have manually set. You can clear it at any time via your browser's "clear site data" controls.
You can disable cookies and local storage at any time via your browser settings. Disabling them will not affect the core PDF processing functionality, only the convenience of remembering your settings between visits.
Children's Privacy
PDF Chop Shop is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of PDF Chop Shop after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
